This is a very good time to review some of the basic concepts to make sure they are happening properly. The elbow flex needs to work correctly. The upper part of the right leg needs to be straight up and down all the way through until the end. A good way to check this is to do the stride part only, don’t do a hand motion and don’t drag the right foot to close the hips. Look at the upper part of the right leg at the end of the stride.

A good thing to mention here is that in general the pitcher’s belly button needs to be closer to the batter than her chin until she gets to the closed position at the end. As the body goes forward down the power line, the hip goes first while the head remains behind so that the pitcher can have a very solid foundation to stop her forward momentum.

The hand needs to get past the hip before the hip closes.
